About us

At Tim Bennetton Architects we work in an intimate, responsive environment that collectively values good design, simplicity and positive relationships.

We specialise in new houses and renovations and recognise that it is a great privilege to help our clients shape the environments in which they dwell. Given the complexity and cost of any building project we also understand that it is a great responsibility. We have a long track record in designing and delivering projects and steering our clients through the obstacles of regulations, budgets, builders and local authorities. Underpinning this effort is our focus on the core services of design and project management.

The practical and technical sides of building are important, and unless there is a strong focus on design the end result is never as good as it could be – we aim to add meaning to our client's everyday lives by obtaining a deeper understanding of your needs and desires through our design processes. Sustainability, natural light and space are very important elements of our projects whatever the size and budget.

Each of our clients is unique, each site is unique - we use our design and management skills to ensure that this combination is the very best it can be. We maintain strong links with builders, landscapers, tradespeople and suppliers. This grounds us in the practicalities of building which is essential to delivering a successful result. We are small enough to remain responsive, highly engaged and attentive to detail; and big enough to ensure that a number of projects can run smoothly at the same time.

Based professionally and personally in West End, Brisbane, we value our links to this diverse and creative community. Many of our projects are based around our local area and we enjoy working further afield with significant experience in delivering projects remotely. We are currently engaged on projects from Melbourne to Noosa within Australia and as far afield as Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu.

Our Team

Tim Bennetton | Founder, Architect and Engineer

I take great pride in realising the dreams of my clients and fitting them to the unique combination of site, aspirations and budget. Over the years I have built up long lasting relationships with builders, designers and tradespeople. The aim is to give my clients the confidence to place their projects in my hands – to translate their requirements into beautiful, sustainable and practical buildings.

Originally I qualified with honours in Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Melbourne. My passion for design led me to build on my Engineering degree with a first class honours degree in Architecture. My design skills were further developed when I moved to Noosa on the Sunshine Coast to work for one Australia's great residential architects, Gabriel Poole, with whom I continued to collaborate over 2 decades.

I have over 20 years' experience in projects varying in construction cost from $100K to $4M – including new houses, renovations, additions to inner city "Queenslanders" on tight blocks and coastal resort facilities. My interest is in modern, contemporary design and, particularly where the context demands, I believe that new work should respond to the environments in which they are sited. This means a respect and reinterpretation of the building traditions that preceded us. The size, scale and budget for any project will vary, however I believe that strong design values will enhance every project – leading to not only a practical, but also meaningful result.

Working with Gabriel & Elizabeth Poole

Tim Bennetton completed his apprenticeship with Gabriel Poole, and once establishing his own practice continued to collaborate closely with Gabriel and Elizabeth Poole on many projects over the years.

Over many years in practice Tim has formed numerous collaborative relationships with builders, cabinet makers and various fabricators. These established connections add value to projects and help make for a smoother construction process.
